Last night's experience really put yesterday morning's midterm in perspective. Sometimes I complain about studying, but really, it's infinitely more pleasant than

.

Luckily (or I guess unluckily either way), I played the character on the right last night, although I guess in 30 or so years, I'll have to switch roles.

Anyway, I've been studying a whole lot lately. Now, I'm starting to realize I'm actually back in school Managed to sneak out for a little fun though (although some of these pics are not so recent).

Those are all my books for this quarter except for that chem book on the right. So basically, I'm screwed... but thank goodness for pass/fail. My sleep schedule has been all wack b/c of all this "studying." I think Saturday, I woke up at 2pm and went to bed Sunday at 3pm. Then Sunday, I woke up at 10 pm and have yet to sleep unless you count me passing out on the floor during class today. I was literally on the floor sleeping while the rest of my group was doing some sort of stats assignment. Not my finest moment.

Busting these pseudo allniters reminded me of all those allniters I pulled in undergrad... those were some crappy memories. I think I literally took 3/4 of my finals in undergrad on allniters. Outside of the sleep deprivation though, it was pretty good times... some pics from soph yr

A pic of Susan and me from Viennese... what a great friend and cosib, notice the slight bend in her knees to bring us to the same height. It's the little things that let you know that they care=)

Dave powering up w/ a mushroom at special dinner

Whitman... looks like Wooj just got back from skiing... either that or he just got the crap beat out of him. Beware those soy sauce bottles!

Tuesday, February 17, 2004

Let's try this again... lemme know if u can't see the pictures

I was sooo close to shaving my head on Thursday before hitting up Drink Club. I was cutting my hair when I screwed up in the back. Now I've been wondering whether I should do it, stay with the long flat hair or maybe go back to spikey hair days. Any thoughts?

Spikin from Jr year (so skinny)

or maybe I should do shaving cream on face with flowers and extensions (coincidentally both wooj and I went through that phase at the same time)

Or shaved (so random... i look up "shaved head" images in google, and who look who I find... rich shin)

or flat hair (from Annette's bday partay this weekend at 181)

Don, me, Ray's hand, my breast, Tom and Annette. Tom came through that night eventually driving 8 people home. You are an allstar man.

I really like this pic of Pav, Alex, me and Gabe from stethescope ceremony. Too bad whoever was holding that wine glass got cut off. Looks like he was Indian... maybe Mandar?

This is from this past weekend at Sake Lab. One of the bday girls, Jenn, is cut off on the right. At least the person taking the picture got the most important person.

So I realize that every job comes with its inherent risks. Police officers might get shot, firefighters play with fire, etc, but I thought as a physician I'd be shielded from such lifethreatening occupational hazards. However, based on what I learned in class today, it turns out that is far from the truth. Evidently, surgeons cut themselves an average of 2-3 times per operation (I'm not entirely sure where she got that number). You might think that's not too bad, but when you consider that 6% of patients visiting the ER's in SF are HIV positive, that is f&^%ing scary. I think she (my prof) also mentioned that surgeons are on prophylactic antiretrovirals. It's like stepping onto the battlefield knowing that eventually you'll get shot, but hoping your accoutrements will protect you. Derm is starting to sound alot better...

But, before I start cutting people open, I've gotten wonderful med school to finish with our wonderful Wed's off. I spent the last one at Heavenly=). Here's a couple pics from our med school trip to Alpine after finals last month. I can't post any of my own b/c I lost my camera there.. boo. I did however end up getting a new one, so now I'm a Woojin clone w/ the Sony Cybershot U.
